OpenAI CEO Altman visits many countries in Europe! Does ChatGPT work or not?

OpenAI CEO Altman reportedly visited European capitals recently, meeting with the heads of government of Spain, Poland, France and the UK to discuss the potential, threat and regulation of artificial intelligence. The focus of her European tour was in the UK, where she attended an artificial intelligence summit called by the prime minister and gave a speech at University College London in which she tried to use the UK to intervene in EU regulatory legislation.

First, Altman spoke with the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. Spain will hold the rotating presidency of the European Council and play a key role in negotiating the EU artificial intelligence bill. Altmann then traveled to Poland and met with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, where the discussion centered on exploring the possibility of Polish companies participating in the AI development process. In addition, Poland was the ideal location for OpenAI’s European headquarters. French President Emmanuel Macron met with Altman on May 24. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak later met with Altman, Demis Hassabis, an executive at Google’s AI lab DeepMind, and Dario Amodei, founder of Anthropic, an AI startup, to discuss the risks posed by AI.

On this European trip, Altman seems to be taking both routes. In addition to meeting with heads of government and hoping to influence the final shape of the EU’s AI bill through the European Council, he has made several public speeches. At University College London, he discussed his views on regulation and the different approaches to regulation between Europe and the US.
